NTL Day 1 Review

12 Mar 2015 by Michael Gosman

Sydney Rebels, ACT Pirates and Brisbane City Cobras had a perfect start to their National Touch League campaign in the mixed open division at Coffs Harbour.

After day one, the trio won all of their three matches.

The Rebels are looking for their fifth consecutive NTL title and started off with a bang by recording wins over Sunshine Coast Pineapples (10-1), South Australia Heat (11-4) and Tasmania (7-4).

The Pirates and Cobras lead the charge in Pool B but play each other on day two.

The winner of the match will no doubt top the group.

The Queensland sides dominated day one of the men’s T-League with North Queensland Tropical Cyclones and Central Queensland Bulls (A) leading their respective Pool A and Pool B divisions.

Hunter Western Hornets and Sydney Scorpions went three from three in the women’s T-League and look like the teams to beat in the division.

The Pineapples and Scorpions lead the way in the men’s 30s group, while South Queensland Sharks and Hornets are in front in the women’s 35s division.

Men’s 40s is an interesting division with the top five teams separated by four points.

In the women’s 40s, South West Queensland Swans are the only undefeated team left following their perfect start to the tournament.

Scorpions, Sharks and Hornets are neck-and-neck in the men’s 45s division.

In the two oldest divisions, Sydney Mets and Sharks are on top in the men’s 50s, and the Tropical Cyclones lead the way in the men’s 55s.

The senior mixed has the Scorpions on top of the tree with 12 points from their three games.

Day two taps-off at 9am on Thursday.
